Guinean Book Prize 2024 — Two Ganndal Novels Selected!
Conakry, Guinea — September 11, 2024
The 2024 Guinean Book Prize continued in its third year with significant participation from Editions Ganndal. Two of the publisher’s novels — Sens Interdit by Mabéty Soumah and M’Balia or the White Clay of the Mine by Sory Dansoko — were officially selected among the shortlist of eight books competing for this prestigious national prize.
Readers and literary lovers were invited to vote online for their favorite among the finalists on the YouScribe platform, helping decide the winners of this year’s awards.
• Sens Interdit brings to life a passionate love story filled with excitement and adventure, tailored to the hopes and dreams of young audiences.
• M’Balia, which went on to receive the 2nd Prize later in October 2024, tells the story of Famörö, a young man chasing love and fortune against the backdrop of Guinea’s mining regions.
This recognition highlights Editions Ganndal’s commitment to promoting Guinean voices and celebrating contemporary African storytelling.
